GCEA Percussion Ensemble was born in November 2003, motivated by its members’ efforts to explore other music domains and genres. It is currently formed of fifteen youngsters, aged 15 to 28.

Its repertoire is particularly dedicated to latin music, due to reason a bass was brought to be part of the ensemble’s formation, enriching its project. Since 2006 the ensemble has been working with body percussion.

It has produced some performances together with students of wind instruments, as well as with the GCEA dance group Incorporarte, featuring the shows Simbiose, Contágio and Contra-tempo. It has also carried out presentations in social institutions, taken part in the regional TV programme Atlântida, and worked with the Madeira Military Band Percussion Ensemble. Moreover, it has performed alone and with other GCEA groups in several festivals in Madeira and Porto Santo islands.

Its artistic director is teacher Eduardo Fernandes.
